CITING SOURCES

I have added a link to a very helpful page that addresses citations for MLA format (scroll down to "Helpful Links"). The topic that you'll get when you click on it is "in-text citations"; however, if you scroll to the bottom you'll see links to all the MLA Format subjects. As much as I hated to link you to a Purdue site, this one is good. See you tomorrow.

I have two books of the Awakening and one has criticisms in the back of the book by diiferent people. Can those be used as my outside sources and not be counted as just one source, since they are from the same book? It's like a collection of criticisms by a bunch of different people that would be helfpful if I didn't have to cite it as just one source. What should I do?

This might be kind of a "duh" question, but should we include quotes from our book in our paper? We hadn't really talked about that in class, so I wasn't sure.

To Tamara: You can probably use those as multiple sources, but let me take a look at your book before I say that for sure. Lucky you to find a book with criticism already in it!

To Sarah: yes, you should use both direct quotes and examples from your novel in the paper to support your thesis arguments. Give it a try and I can look at it in your draft on Tuesday.
